Responding to a surveyAt the recent National Training Conferences, National President Tony Reardon discussed with me and other chapter leaders his intention to create a shared vision for our union that would put us on a path to be even stronger 10 years from now than we are today. NTEU is seeking information about what our leaders, members, and bargaining unit employees value and look for from our union, which is critical to the creation of that shared vision. Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program Premium Rate Increases

United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) logoToday, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) briefed NTEU on the upcoming premium rate increases for the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLCTIP). In April 2015, OPM awarded a new, seven year contract, as required by law, to John Hancock Life & Health Insurance Company. John Hancock was the existing insurance carrier for the FLTCIP program, and was also the sole bidder for this new contract. Based upon updated actuarial assumptions regarding mortality rates, medical care usage, inflation and costs, and actual claims and investment performance, OPM approved the increase in premium rates.
