Update on Shutdown and FY19 Government Funding

U.S. CapitolToday, as we head into the weekend on day seven of the shutdown, it appears the shutdown will last into the start of 2019. Neither the President nor the current Congress are taking any actions on needed funding measures, and the newly-elected 116th Congress (2019-2020) will convene on Thursday, January 3.

NTEU is well-aware that many federal employees are anxiously awaiting news of when paychecks will be assured, whether they are furloughed or working with no pay. We are actively sharing your stories-and financial uncertainty-with the Administration, Congress, and the media.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has launched a resource center, which includes template letters for creditors and financial institutions as well as unemployment resources on its website at:

NTEU’s shutdown resource center which includes news and developments, shutdown FAQs and available agency-specific letters can be found at:

I will keep you updated on further developments. For more information, please visit the NTEU Legislative Action Center.
