Update on Shutdown and FY19 Government Funding

Seal of the U.S. House of RepresentativesLate this afternoon, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) reported that no votes are expected to be held tomorrow in the U.S. House of Representatives. While the U.S. Senate is expected to briefly convene tomorrow afternoon, there are also no votes currently scheduled in the chamber. Therefore, as of this evening, with over 800,000 affected federal workers nationwide, there are no signs of the shutdown ending soon or that negotiations are nearing a legislative solution.

NTEU is working to highlight the employee financial impact with the administration, Congress, and the media. NTEU is also focused on House passage of Senate-cleared legislation to guarantee back pay for those furloughed and to ensure upcoming paychecks are fast-tracked for all affected employees as soon as the shutdown ends.

I will keep you updated on further developments. For more information, please visit NTEU.org.
