Grassroots Update: Keep the Government Open and Give Employees a Pay Raise!

Writing on computerCongress must vote by December 7 to once again pass another continuing resolution, several outstanding appropriations bills, or some combination thereof to avoid a partial government shutdown. Again, Federal employees are facing either being furloughed without pay or being required to work not knowing when they will be paid because Congress and the White House have not done their job.

Person in smartphoneWe must continue to fight against any proposals that threaten to disrupt the critical services that federal agencies provide to the American people. Moreover, a shutdown will compromise federal employee pay at a time when employees are depending on their paychecks to provide for their families and the approaching holiday season. When will enough be enough?

Ask them to ensure that federal agencies stay open for the public and employees are paid on time, that agencies are properly funded, and that federal employees receive a pay raise for 2019 in any spending negotiations.
