Key members of Congress are urging HHS Secretary Azar to come back to the bargaining table with NTEU.

As you know, I have informed you that, while HHS continues to be silent after our legal victory against the Executive Orders, NTEU will not be. Today, I am pleased to report to you that key members of Congress also are not being silent. Representatives Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) have written to Secretary Azar asking that he come back to the table and bargain in good faith with NTEU.

I am deeply grateful for the leadership of these two members of Congress. Both of them are key figures on health and human services policy. Representative DeLauro is the raking member of the Labor/HHS Appropriations subcommittee which controls funding for HHS. Representative Schakowsky serves on the Energy & Commerce Committee, which has jurisdiction and oversight over the agency’s discretionary health programs.

If you have any questions on this matter, please share them with your chapter president.
