Secretary of HHS Refuses to Meet with NTEU President

Secretary Azar refuses to meet with NTEU President Reardon to discuss the agency’s harmful bargaining proposals and tactics.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex M. Azar II

Yesterday, HHS Secretary Azar finally responded to NTEU National President Tony Reardon’s July 31, 2018, request to meet with him to discuss the agency’s harmful proposals that would eliminate workplace benefits like AWS, telework, and awards. The Secretary claimed that he was “unavailable” due to “scheduling conflicts” and directed me to communicate with the agency’s bargaining team — the same HHS representatives who have proven unwilling to communicate HHS’s rationales for their proposals, along with engaging in other bad faith bargaining tactics.

Please stand with NTEU by signing the petition and wearing Shame on HHS stickers on Friday. I also encourage you to join NTEU to fight back against HHS’s harmful proposals.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact your chapter president.
