I am writing today to ask you to join us as we embark on our 81st year of ensuring the nation’s civil servants are treated with dignity and respect. That’s a broad term, so let me lay out some of the specifics.
Because of NTEU’s work on Capitol Hill and at the bargaining table, federal employees have access to things like telework, alternative work schedules and Flexible Spending Accounts, just to name three workplace benefits. We’d like to add paid family leave to that list, but we need your help to do it.
Equally compelling are the repeated threats to your paycheck, your retirement and your rights. When Congress talks about these things, they are talking about you. These harmful proposals would affect every single frontline federal employee regardless of your years of service or your agency.
As an added incentive, if you join NTEU Chapter 254 between April 1, 2018, and September 29, 2018, we will give you $80 as a token of our thanks for joining during NTEU’s 80th anniversary.
I’ve committed my time and energy to being a leader within NTEU because I believe this union is vital to protecting federal employees from these threats. I ask you to join me as we fight for your rights and benefits in our contract negotiations and in Washington.
I know all too well that everyone in the bargaining unit benefits from our advocacy work whether you become a member or not. But here is the bottom line: The more members we have, the more powerful we become, and the easier it is to affect positive change in our workplace.
