Logo of the Department of Health and Human ServicesHHS has provided NTEU an “Emergency Shutdown Notice” confirming that, due to the absence of FY 2018 Appropriations or a Continuing Resolution, it will place employees who are not engaged in excepted functions in a furlough status effective immediately. The agency offered no information about providing furlough notices to employees, informing them whether they will be expected to work or will be furloughed. Call with OMB on Possible Government Shutdown

OMB has briefed NTEU on plans with regard to a possible government shutdown.

Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President of the United States (seal)NTEU just received a briefing from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) regarding plans related to a possible government shutdown. Funding runs out at midnight tonight, and Congress has not yet completed action on a new funding measure. Letters in Support of Employee Pay in the Event of a Shutdown

NTEU sends letters to the House and Senate in support of federal employee pay in the event of a government shutdown.

Today, as Congress and the administration move closer to a government shutdown, NTEU National President Tony Reardon sent letters to every legislator in the House and Senate urging them to act to ensure that federal employees are paid on time, and on legislation to guarantee that all federal employees are paid as quickly as possible following a shutdown.
