Member Answers FEMA’s Call To Help In Puerto Rico

Person lends a hand to a woman to help her upDavid Foran, Food and Drug Administration employee, long-time National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) member, and former executive vice president and chief steward of NTEU Chapter 254, is in Puerto Rico detailed to FEMA to provide recovery assistance. He asked me to report:

“PR is pretty devastated. Most of theec island has been without power or clean water since the 2nd huricane hit on 9/20. Two power plants are destroyed Some diseases are starting to spread because of the on going conditions.

“Trees and power poles are down everywhere. Essentially, the power grid collapsed.

“Most wooden structures are distroyed.

“The logistics for 8000+ workers from across the federal government & private groups is in itself huge.

“A lot of chicken & egg situations: A needs to be done before B but C needs to be done for A…

“12 hour days. I’m working in FEMA IA (individual assistance).”

Please join me in thanking David and every other federal employee dedicated to help our fellow Americans in PR. They Work For U.S.
