Members of Congress Request Agency Reorganization Plans

Members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee sent a letter asking for hearings on the Administration’s reorganization plans and for copies of individual agency plans.

Button reading, On October 5, eighteen (18) Democratic Members of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, led by Committee Ranking Member Elijah Cummings (D-MD), sent a letter to Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) requesting hearings on and copies of individual agency reorganization plans because, according to the letter, “the degradation of the federal workforce… should not occur in darkness.” The letter goes on to cite concerns regarding the hiring freezes in place at several agencies, including at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the failure of the Administration to spend funds as authorized by Congress. ​Special TSP Hardship Withdrawal Rules for Employees ​Impacted by Hurricanes

Information on the relaxation of Thrift Savings Plan hardship withdrawal rules for individuals affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.

Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) logoThe Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (Board) which administers the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) on behalf of federal employees, has announced special, temporary hardship withdrawal rules for TSP accounts, based upon guidance issued by the IRS, for individuals affected by recent hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. The specific information and detailed instructions from the Board are posted on the TSP’s web site at https://www.tsp.gov/whatsnew/Content/index.html.

​Given NTEU’s role as a member of the Board’s Employee Thrift Advisory Council, I want to be sure our members are aware of the TSP’s actions for these impacted individuals. ​
