Establishment of an Emergency Leave Transfer Program for Hurricane Irma

OPM issued a memorandum granting agencies the authority to establish of an Emergency Leave Transfer Program for federal employees adversely affected by Hurricane Irma.

United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) logoOn September 20, 2017, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) issued a memorandum to all Executive agencies granting them the authority to establish an Emergency Leave Transfer Program (ELTP) for federal employees adversely affected by Hurricane Irma. The ELTP is administered by agencies with affected employees, so NTEU has been in contact with all affected agencies regarding the establishment of an ELTP for employees adversely affected by Hurricane Irma.

This is NTEU CountryWe remain committed to the safety and well-being of all of our bargaining unit employees. The impacted employees have faced a lot of challenges and many need non-work time to address issues with their homes and families, and NTEU has had a number of communications with agencies, including agency heads, to ensure that the maximum amount of assistance is provided to impacted employees. As soon as we receive specific instructions from individual agencies, we will distribute that information promptly.

In the interim, please feel free to contact your local Human Resources Department to find out how to donate to the ELTP. I encourage all employees who are able to donate annual leave to assist employees who have been impacted by Hurricane Irma.

If you have any questions about the Emergency Leave Transfer Program, please review the OPM fact sheet on this subject and/or contact your chapter president.
