At this time, it appears Congress and the administration will act on a one-week Continuing Resolution (CR) to avert a shutdown. However, in light of the fact that no funding measure has yet been enacted, HHS has published its contingency staffing plan for operations in the absence of annual appropriations. According to the plan, approximately 51% of staff will be furloughed agency-wide, with variations per OPDIV. The agency has published staff estimates for operations in the event of a shutdown.
NTEU is working with HHS to obtain more detailed information about which employees will be furloughed.
