Yesterday, Senator Hirono (D-HI) introduced a Senate Resolution—S. Res. 51—that has additional support from the following Senators: Brown (D-OH), Cardin (D-MD), Van Hollen (D-MD), Blumenthal (D-CT), Booker (D-NJ), Markey (D-MA), Warren (D-MA), Carper (D-CT), Franken (D-MN), Murray (D-WA), and Cantwell (D-WA).
The resolution highlights the invaluable role performed by federal employees across the nation, and also reaffirms congressional support for collective bargaining, employee due process and rights, and fair pay and benefits in the federal workplace.
NTEU appreciates Senator Hirono’s work on this legislation and strongly supports S. Res. 51. Additionally, we welcome these Senators’ commitment to federal employees and for demonstrating their respect for the federal workforce through their legislative actions in the U.S. Senate—be it from introducing and promoting pro-federal employee legislation to being prepared to fight anti-federal employee proposals as they emerge in this Congress to keep them from becoming law.
