House Legislation for a Reasonable Pay Raise in 2018

Representative Gerry Connolly (D-VA) has introduced legislation that would provide federal employees on the General Schedule and Wage Grade pay systems with a 3.2% pay increase effective January 2018. H.R. 757, the Federal Adjustment of Income Rates (FAIR) bill, would provide these employees with a 2% across-the-board pay raise plus a 1.2% adjustment designated for increasing locality pay rates.

As you well know, in recent years federal employees have been left trailing their private sector counterparts when it comes to pay. Amidst a healthy private-sector job market, NTEU expects robust efforts to limit federal employee pay—including pay freezes and restricting performance-based awards. We applaud Congressman Connolly’s legislation that is respectful of the work federal employees perform each and every day.

NTEU supports H.R 757 and will work to advance this legislation.
