If you are covered by ID experts (My IDCare) for the background investigations incident, there is NO CHANGE to your current coverage and NO ACTION is required at this time. However, if you are covered by Winvale/CSID, this coverage will expire on December 1, 2016.
There are approximately 600,000 individuals impacted by the personnel records incident. These individuals will receive a notification letter from OPM with a 25 digit PIN code, which you will need to re-enroll with the new vendor. If you were also impacted by the background investigations incident, you should have received the PIN notification letter last year.
OPM shared that it has taken steps to ensure that while the change in vendor is taking place, there will be no gaps in identity restoration and identity theft insurance coverage. All individuals enrolled with Winvale/CSID should receive a communication from them, most likely via e-mail.
If you would like to continue receiving credit monitoring services, you need to go to the Cybersecurity Resource Center for information about how to re-enroll.
The web site is https://www.opm.gov/cybersecurity. This web site can also help you figure out if you are impacted by this change, or you don’t know your service provider, or need a copy of your notification letter.
Please review the Frequently Asked Questions document from OPM for more information.
I will keep you updated on any other changes.
