The President issued a memo establishing an emergency leave program for federal employees affected by the recent flooding in Louisiana. The Office of Personnel Management has issued additional implementation guidance for employing agencies.
The President’s memo establishes an emergency leave program for federal employees who have been adversely impacted by this recent flooding to be eligible to become emergency leave recipients. Employees at agencies in both the executive and judicial branches, or under a leave bank operating under 5 U.S.C. 6363, can donate used annual leave that will be transferred to these workers.
