NTEU National President Tony Reardon heard from me and many other HHS chapter presidents about the rather sorry state of the NTEU-HHS labor-management relationship. NTEU staff had also been advising Tony that that relationship had sunk to new lows. Therefore, in late March, Tony wrote a letter to HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell, in which he outlined our concerns about this poor state of affairs, and cited several recent matters that illustrated how badly the relationship had deteriorated. Tony asked for her help in resetting the relationship. HHS replied in a May 23 letter that the agency is “committed to working with NTEU in establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship to ensure a healthy environment for our employees.” Continue reading “Meeting with HHS on Labor-Management Relationship”
The linked documents below allow you to look at your congressional representatives’ voting records on key federal employee issues, such as pay, benefits, retirement, contracting, and agency funding. The documents include descriptions of the votes on federal employee issues and NTEU’s legislative position on the vote. Then find your Senators and House members and see how they voted.
These voting records—as shown in these documents—are legislative information that can be distributed and posted in bulletin boards in the workplace in accordance with Article 9 of the 2014 HHS-NTEU Consolidated Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and related statutes. However, you should only review them on your own time.
