As the new year starts, the United States remains one of only two industrialized countries—out of 185 worldwide—that does not offer paid parental leave.

NTEU is supporting legislation in the House and the Senate to provide six weeks of paid parental leave to federal employees upon the birth or adoption of a child.

Legislation Introduced Aimed at Crippling Federal Employee Unions

houseofrep232wayToday, Representative Tom Price introduced a bill in the House of Representatives, H.R.4461, that is directly aimed at crippling federal employee unions.

Overall, this legislation, inappropriately titled “the Federal Employee Rights Act,” would prohibit federal agencies, including the U.S. Postal Service, the government of the District of Columbia, and all three branches of government, from directly deducting labor organization fees from employee salaries.
